On screen and off screen 'Rajneeti'

I did a mistake by accepting the invitation of premiere show of the 'Rajneeti' at Gopikrishna Movies. First, the film started almost an hour late. Second, I was starving and there was nothing to eat except noodles (is that a kind of food?), carbonated drinks (No offence but I hate such drinks) and popcorn (u can't believe the price, its 5 folds more expensive inside).

On the top of all, the movie disappointed me. I was remembering the movie 'Gangajal' by Prakash Jha, same guy who directed the present film. So, obviously the expectations were high. (do you think it is bad to expect high?) Unlike 'Gangajal', 'Rajneeti' has so many loops in the plot. It is full of blasts and blood. Till the use of guns and bombs, the film was somewhat fine and able to hold the interest. Then you find all the interest evaporated when you could guess the end easily. After the interval, the film uses many elements of a 'masala film', ronadhona, the lost son finds his mother, mother requests him to come back home etc. The film is long. Even without any songs it takes three hours to finish the film.

However, I enjoyed the time afterwards. It was 9:15 pm when I was out of the theatre. I flagged down some taxies. All of them demanded more than three hundred rupees. And, I was not ready to pay that amount of money for just three kilometers distance. There was another gentleman, too. He also was talking to the taxi drivers. I asked him to hire a single taxi so that we could share the fare. He did not accept my proposal. Instead, he proposed me to drop to my destination if I paid him one hundred rupees. He had his office vehicle nearby. I agreed.

On the way I asked him where he was working. His reply surprised me. He was working in the Ministry of Energy. His bosses were somewhere around Chabhil in a party. Wow! That was the true rajneeti. A citizen of Nepal paid for travelling in the government vehicle. I did not say anything. I did not say I was a media person. I simply paid him hundred rupees and started towards my destination.

  3. It is very good to read your blog. A genious fellow like you have to express your views on the public issues. However, your latest article really dissapointed me. I am shocked, startled, wondered and obfuscated.I really didn't get what you meant?

More than your views you have expressed your problem of not getting chance of having anything. Expensivge snacks at the theatre is not the problem of Prakash Jha neither the delay commencement. My god how much you are worried about the taxi fare? Michel Focault might have said correct.....we can not transcend our context because context itself is text for most of the writers. you are the same. The "300" has a great impact on your mind than Mr. Jha's film.

Really, I am flustered. What are you trying to say? Are you commenting upon 'Rajneeti' or your disabilitty to travel freely at night time. Mr Dhakal, how dare you expect the clerk to take to to your destination without paying simply because you are a journalist? And by the way, instead of three hundred you took the privilege of travelling at three times cheaper fare. And also you are lucky because you got the chance of travelling by public vehicle despite not being a government staff.

My dear, I have to say that you are also doing a rajneeti with your blog. Guess what? We are political being. And can not be unpoliticized. Everywhere there is politics. As a journalist, you understand it?

For me 'Rajneeti' is a perfect film. You know why? It shows the plots and deceptions that really undergoes everywhere especially in the third world countries. Don't you think that our national politics has been reflected.

And finally, your article as a whole is very elaborated. The language and originality is A rated. You have developed a very nice flair of writing.

    Hoping your counterargument.

  4. Dear Buddhi,
Really delighted to read your valuable comments. I enjoyed them. However, I would like to say to say a few things.
There is not frustration over the money I paid to the government servant. instead, I used the phrase 'I enjoyed the time...'. I am sure that tells you a lot.
Regarding the food, the food items that I talked about are not considered good for the health. I meant that too, apart from criticizing the price of the popcorn. Did you notice, I haven't talk about the price of the Cold Drinks and Noodles there. The reason is I was not frustrated because of the price but the types of food.
And at last but not the least, late commencement of the film is not the mistake of Mr. Jha. Instead that was my mistake. I have mentioned it in the beginning of my article.
Thank you for the comments. Thank you for your appreciation. I thought it would be better if I replied to you.
I need your suggestions and encouragement time and again.
    Have a good day.
