Bhaban Bhatta elected President of NRNA



Kathmandu, Oct. 17: Bhaban Bhatta has been elected president of the Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA).
The 8thNRNA International General Assembly held in Kathmandu on Monday elected him to the leadership of the NRNA with 1,197 votes. His rival Jamuna Gurung garnered 584 votes.
According to Election Committee member Kul Prasad Pande, of the total 1,854 representatives from more than 70 countries around the globe, 1,788 cast their votes in the election.
Following his election, he announced that he would expedite the construction works of the NRNA headquarters, Laprak reconstruction, NRN Academy and push forward the mutual investment fund agenda.
Likewise, Kumar Prasad Pant and Kul Acharya have been elected vice-presidents while Sapila Rajbhandari  is the woman vice-president.
Dr.Badri KC is the newly-elected general secretary, who will be serving his second consecutive term.
Similarly, DB Kshetri and Janaki Gurung won the election for the post of secretary.
Hikmat Bahadur Thapa and Som Nath Sapkota have been elected treasurer and joint-treasurer respectively.
Rajani Pradhan is the elected woman coordinator and Sudan Thapa the youth coordinator.
The NRNA has a 21-member working committee.
