NRA punishes 19 technicians

Kathmandu, June 30
National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has punished 19 technicians working in the quake-affected areas after it found the employees involved in various illegal activities.

It has punished 12 engineers, five sub-engineers and two assistant sub-engineers. Of them, eight were working in Nuwakot, 3 in Kavrepalanchowk, 2 each in Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha and Dhading, and one each in Solukhumbu and Bhojpur.

“The technicians were punished for their involvement in unwanted activities,” NRA said in a statement on Sunday.

According to the reconstruction body, the technicians had illegally collected money from the quake-affected families, tortured them, forged the signature of the chief administrators of the local bodies to recommend attendance, and defied the directions of the Central Project Implementation Unit (CPIU) and District PIU.

The NRA has cancelled the contract with the technicians and said that they were punished as per the rule. They will be no more eligible for the job.
