Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the news of
the untimely demise of popular Nepali cinema actor Sunil Thapa has deeply
saddened her.
She offered her heartfelt tribute to the departed soul
and expressed deepest condolences to the bereaved family, relatives,
well-wishers, and the entire artistic community.
“With his passing, both the Nepali and Indian film
industries have lost not just a multi-dimensional artist, but also a solid
pillar,” read a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
According to her, from his portrayal of the fiery
villain in Chino to the coach in Mary Kom, his remarkable roles
as both antagonist and supporting actor won the hearts of millions. Each of
these characters will forever remain alive in the memories of us, the audience.
“His dedication, commitment, and contribution over
more than four decades will continue to serve as a source of inspiration for
future generations of artists,” said PM Karki.
