A group of traffic officers and
management experts Saturday prepared a traffic management strategy for the
Kathmandu Valley.
The National Banking Institute (NBI)
organized a one-day workshop on ‘Traffic Management’ for the Metropolitan
Traffic Police Division to prepare the management strategy.
A team of traffic officers led by chief
of Metropolitan Traffic Police DIG Prakash Aryal, which included SSP, SP, DSP
and other officers from the traffic police, prepared the strategy.
NBI chief executive officer (CEO)
Sanjiv Subba and CEO of Sherpa Adventure Gear Ashutosh Tiwari facilitated the
participation of 26 traffic police officers in drafting the strategy.
The new strategy includes plans to be
executed by the Traffic Police Division, responsible departments and officers
to execute the plan and managing the resources for the plan.
The workshop also enhanced the traffic
officers’ skills and knowledge on traffic management in the Kathmandu Valley,
NBI said in a press statement.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of
the workshop, Nepal Police Chief IG Upendra Kanta Aryal said that the strategic
action plan prepared at the workshop would assist the traffic officers on duty
to manage the traffic and reduce the road accidents.
“It will result in better traffic
management that will help people to move faster on the road,” he said.
Issues like challenges in traffic
management in the Kathmandu Valley, problems of the traffic police, steps to be
taken to improve the traffic management in the Valley were also discussed in
the workshop, informed NBI.
