Balgopaleshwor to be reconstructed by DoA

Kathmandu, Oct. 21: The Department of Archaeology (DoA) will reconstruct the Balgopaleshwor Temple at Ranipokhari here.
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Office had been rebuilding the temple.
According to a press statement issued by the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), due to technical reasons, the KMC faced obstacles while reconstructing the temple as per the design prescribed by the DoA, therefore the Department took the responsibility upon itself.

The DoA will rebuild the temple as per the earlier design it had prescribed.
A meeting of NRA chief executive officer (CEO) Sushil Gyawali and a taskforce involved in heritage reconstruction, DoA director general Bhesh Narayan Dahal and KMC CEO Rudra Singh Tamang on Wednesday took the decision to this effect.
KMC will continue to work on other structures than the Balgopaleshwor temple.
According to NRA spokesperson Ram Prasad Thapaliya, the temple reconstruction work was halted after the DoA said the KMC did not adhere to the standards of heritage reconstruction.
The meeting decided that the KMC would make arrangements for the devotees to visit the temple on the day of Bhai Tika.
Likewise, the NRA will expedite the process to prepare the master plan for the management of the Kathmandu Durbar Square in coordination with the KMC, DoA and other stakeholders.
