Ambassador
of Nepal to Brazil Tara Prasad Pokharel presented his Letters of Credence to
Brazilian President Michel Temer amidst a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace
in Brasilia on Thursday.
According
to a press statement issued by the Embassy of Nepal in Brasilia, while
receiving the Letters of Credence, President Temer welcomed Pokharel as the
ambassador of Nepal to Brazil.
On
the occasion, Pokharel conveyed the greetings and best wishes from President
Bidya Devi Bhandari to Temer for his personal health, happiness and for the
continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Brazil.
At
a courtesy meeting following the ceremony, Temer recalled his recent meeting
with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda during the BRICS-BIMSTEC
Outreach Summit held in Goa, India.
Pokharel
highlighted the significance of the event like the BRICS-BIMSTEC Outreach
Summit for regional cooperative initiatives in the region.
While
referring to the bilateral relations subsisting between the two countries, he
stated that the establishment of residential missions in Kathmandu and Brasilia
and conclusion of some important agreements had significantly broadened the
prospects for cooperative relations between the two countries for mutual
benefit.
"President
Temer said that Brazil was ready to further strengthen the bilateral relations
between the two countries, and assured full cooperation to promote
partnership," read the statement.
Brazilian
Minister for Foreign Affairs, and first secretary and deputy chief of mission
at the Embassy Rishi Raj Acharya and attaché of the embassy Chandra Kanta
Parajuli had attended the ceremony.
