Worldlink to provide high speed wi-fi soon

Kathmandu, Aug. 19: Worldlink Communications, a leading Internet Service Provider in the country, has announced that it would introduce high speed managed Home Wi-Fi solutions within a year.

“We have long been receiving complaints from the customers that the Wi-Fi connections have been slow and sometimes worst. Sometimes the signals become weak due to many other environmental disturbances since they are wireless,” Chairman of Worldlink Dileep Agrawal said at a press briefing organised on Sunday to announce its collaborations with the Juniper Network, a USA-based IT solutions manufacturer.

The company plans to upgrade core backbone capacity to 500 Gigabit per second and expand internet service to every local unit in the Karnali province within the fiscal year 2018/19, he said.

“We also plan to connect 150,000 additional households by ‘Fibre to the Home’ (FTTH) technology, add 100,000 IPTV subscribers,” said Samit Jana, Chief Technical Officer at the company.
Worldlink has updated its entire network with latest networking technology.

“The company is transitioning toward a high performance 100 GBE infrastructure alongside future-proofing flexibility and scalability to support continued growth. From now on we don’t need to replace the entire technology but it can be updated,”

The 100 GBE (Gigabit Ethernet) means the group of computer networking technologies that can transmit Ethernet frame at the rate of 100 gigabits per second.

According to him, the company has used Juniper Network’s high-performance networking solutions to tackle the networking constraints and complexities of the ever growing consumer market.

About 80 per cent of the Worldlink’s IP backbone is built using Juniper Routers that are capable to handle the ever growing demand for bandwidth and network capacity.

Juniper’s Managing Director for India and SAARC countries Dinesh Verma said that the company had observed tremendous growth of internet in Nepal since it entered the country in 2012, and appreciated Worldlink’s success.
