People should work together to bring happiness in the world

Lalitpur, Sept. 3:
Maitri Mahasthavir, president of All Nepal Bhikkhu Association (ANBA), has urged people from all walks of life to work together to bring happiness in the world.

"We all are equally responsible for the lack of peace and prosperity in the society. We should follow the teachings of the Buddha and follow his path to attain peace and harmony," he said while addressing a one-day international seminar on 'How to unify Buddhists in the 21st century', organised by Nirvanmurti Vihar, Kathmandu on Monday.

He said that all Buddhists should feel the necessity for unification and work together to spread the Buddha's teachings.

Dolpo Buddha Rimpoche, main Guru of Yaestsher Monastery of Dolpo and founder of Snowland Ranag Light of Education School, said that Buddhists were lagging behind due to political and other various reasons, but there would be a revival soon.

He praised the Newars of the Kathmandu Valley for preserving Buddhist art, culture and traditions.
He also urged for working together to spread the Buddha's message to the world. "The Buddha is the image of Nepal and a synonym of peace, we must take it to the world," he said.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams said that Bangladesh had one of the oldest Buddhist cultures in the world.
"Ancient Buddhist relics as old as 2300 years have been found in Bangladesh. The 7th century was the golden era for Buddhism in Bangladesh," she said.

Shams said that the Bangladesh government was conserving Buddhist heritage sites in the country.
There are 1.2 million Buddhists in Bangladesh.

Similarly, Ambassador of Brazil to Nepal Maria Teresa Mesquita Pessoa said that the Buddha's teachings were rapidly spreading across the world.

"Buddhism came to Brazil in the 19th century, and there are many people who like it," she said.
Bhikkhu  Kondanya  Mahasthavir, General Secretary of ANBA, said that every human wanted to be happy and avoid pain and suffering.

"We all are interconnected, so we should spread love, affection and happiness to create harmony in the society. We should devote ourselves to uplift others. This is the true meaning of the Dhamma," he said.
