PM urges for social harmony

Kathmandu, Dec. 30: Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli has urged all the community to maintain social harmony and support the government in its campaign to create an equitable society.

"Nepali people have defeated the forces that tried to sow the seed of ethnic conflict in the country in the past. The people have failed in their efforts to disturb the social harmony," he said while addressing the Tamu (Gurung) Lhosar festival programme orgainsed at Tundikhel in the capital on Sunday.

He said that development was stalled due to multiple revolutions and peoples' movements launched to reinstate the political rights of the people, and, as a result, people were forced to live in illiteracy, scarcity and poverty.

"But we have concluded the political movements and obtained full political freedom. The campaign for the economic progress and development has started. The government is working to eradicate all discriminations in the society," the Prime Minister said.

PM Oli reiterated that the only aim of the government was building an equitable society.

He expressed his Lhosar greetings to all Tamu communities in the country and abroad.

His greeting message included his confidence that the Tamu community would extend its complete support and cooperation to make the 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali' campaign a success.
