Rai receives Fonji UK award


Kathmandu, Jan. 30:
Associate Editor of Gorkhapatra daily Rajesh Chamling Rai was awarded with the the Fonij UK 2018.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barshaman Pun 'Ananta' felicitated him with a purse of Rs. 30,000 and a plaque amidst a programme here on Tuesday.

Advisor of Fonij UK and former Major of British Army Swanam Sherpa has established the prize.
Likewise, Tamu Pioneer Poet Harka Bahadur Gurung Memorial Journalism Prize 2019 was given to UK-based photojournalist Milan Tamu. The prize was established by Tamu Journalist Association and includes a purse of Rs. 10,000 and an appreciation letter. Tamu is associated with the Everest Times weekly published from the UK.

Minister Pun congratulated both journalists and wished further progress in their professional life. He said that the prize had increased the responsibility in the part of the journalists.
He also said that journalists should continuously play watchdog role.
