Kathmandu,
Aug. 27:
Nepal
Rastra Bank (NRB) and Bank of Korea (BoK) on Tuesday signed an agreement to
launch Knowledge Partnership Programme.
Director
of the Governor’s Office Govinda Prasad Nagila and BOK’s Deputy Director
General of the Department of International Affairs Jee Young Jung signed the
agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
A
joint team from the BoK and University of Korea will study Nepal’s financial
inclusion, financial literacy, and policy and programmes related to it under
the programme. It will submit an interim and a detailed report with policy
recommendations to the NRB in two phases.
The
NRB said that the study would provide important policy recommendations for
financial inclusion and literacy. “The collaboration will also help in
exchanging good policy and other practices in the two institutions,” said the
central bank.
Executive
Director of the Governor’s Office Dr. Nephil Matangi Maskay and Executive
Director of Microfinance Promotion and Monitoring Department Dr. Prakash Kumar
Shrestha were present at the signing ceremony.
The
programme is being implemented for the third time. It was executed in 2017 and
2018 in the areas of projection of macroeconomic situation and policy provision
on payment/clearance system respectively.
