India provides over 200 vehicles for polls

Kathmandu, Nov. 1

India has provided over 200 vehicles to Nepal as a gift for logistical support to various Nepali institutions for holding the elections.

Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, handed over the vehicles to Janardan Sharma, Finance Minister of Nepal, on Tuesday at a programme organised in Kathmandu.  

“These vehicles are being handed over at the request of Government of Nepal for utilization during elections, of which 120 vehicles are for the utilization by security forces and 80 vehicles are for the utilization by Election Commission of Nepal,” the embassy said in a statement.

According to it, more than 2,400 vehicles have been gifted to various Nepali institutions for support during elections, including about 2,000 vehicles to Nepal Police and Armed Police Forces and approximately 400 vehicles to Nepali Army and ECN.
