Kunwar elected ASOCIO Vice President

 Kathmandu, Nov. 2

Nawaraj Kunwar, President of Computer Association Nepal Federation (CAN Federation), has been elected as the Vice President of Asian-Oceania Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) for the term of 2023-24.

He was elected to the post representing the CAN Federation in the election held at the association's annual general meeting in Singapore last week.

Before that, he was the Co-Vice President of the ASOCIO representing the CAN Federation from January 2022. Kunwar was elected as the president of CAN Federation in 2019.

The 9-member committee elected under the chairmanship of Information Service Industry Association Taiwan, Brian Shen, has elected representatives of the organised umbrella organisations working on information and communication technology from Nepal, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.

The ASOCIO was established in 1984 and has organised umbrella organisations working on ICT in 24 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, CAN Federation said that it believed that Kunwar’s representation in the association will help in the efforts of the organisation to support in the adaptation of changing digital technology and the promotion of digital economy.
