The Korea International Cooperation Agency
(KOICA) and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA)
held the first Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting of the Inclusive Rural
Development Project (IRDP) in Bardiya District on Wednesday.
The five-year project (2024–2029), with a
budget of USD 8 million, was formally launched as the PSC endorsed the
project’s Action Plan.
The meeting, attended by the representatives
from eight municipalities of Bardiya, Bardiya National Park, and the Project
Management Consultant team from the Korea Institute for Development Strategy,
reviewed project objectives, implementation strategies, and training plans
aimed at strengthening local capacity.
Municipal leaders presented Local
Initiatives Projects, and Bardiya National Park shared plans to promote
eco-tourism and community-based livelihoods.
KOICA Country Director Kong Mooheon stated
that the project focuses on dairy production, crop farming, agricultural
machinery, compost production, and fish processing to enhance productivity and
employment for small farmers, women, and marginalized groups. MoFAGA Joint
Secretary Nita Pokhrel Aryal noted KOICA’s continued support in various sectors
and reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to strengthening cooperation.
Before the meeting, the delegation had visited
local cooperatives, including Kedareshwor Dairy Cooperative and Kalpabrikshya
Fish Processing Cooperative.
