Nepal’s Ambassador to Thailand Dhan
Bahadur Oli, and Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand Eksiri
Pintaruchi have expressed their commitment to hold the meeting of Bilateral
Consultation Mechanism (BCM) at the earliest.
“They discussed the possibility of
concluding bilateral agreements on Agricultural Cooperation and expressed their
commitment to hold the meeting of the BCM at the earliest possible in convenience
for both sides,” the Embassy of Nepal informed in a statement on Thursday.
The Ambassador and the Permanent
Secretary also discussed the ongoing bilateral issues of mutual interest,
including the effective implementation of various bilateral Agreements signed
between Nepal and Thailand.
Ambassador Oli updated Pintaruchi
that the current situation in Nepal has returned to normal and tourism, trade,
and other day-to-day businesses have resumed in their regular operations.
He appreciated the Thai government for
its valuable support in facilitating the safe repatriation of Nepali nationals
rescued from various locations in Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos through Thai
territory. He also expressed hope for continued cooperation of Thailand in
combating human trafficking, smuggling, and online scamming issues, in which
several Nepali nationals have been victimised.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Embassy
facilitated, in cooperation with Thai authorities, the repatriation of 14
Nepalis rescued from Myanmar, while an additional 38 are in the process of
repatriation.
The meeting was attended by Urasa
Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East
and African Affairs, and other senior officials of the MoFA of Thailand and
Moti Bahadur Shrees, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy.
