PM Karki urges citizens to have voter identity card

Kathmandu, Nov. 7

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has urged all citizens to obtain their voter identity cards.

Issuing a video statement on Friday, she said, “To make proper use of your voting rights, visit your nearest election office today and get your voter identity card made.”

According to her, in a democratic society, there are two fundamental means to realise the dreams of citizens. First, the individual conscience of citizens. That conscience which chooses what is right, does not do wrong, and does not allow wrongdoing. Second, the official tool to exercise that conscience — the voter identity card.

“To realise Nepal as dreamt by Gen-Z youth and all Nepalis, the first thing we must do is obtain our voter identity cards. Then, by using them wisely, we must choose the right representatives,” said PM Karki.

She said that one should either be the right representative or choose the right one through an election.

“Let every eligible citizen make good use of their voting rights to stand against existing injustices and move forward together in the nation’s development,” she urged.
