Kathmandu,
Jan. 5: The government has decided to seek a second clarification from the
National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) chief executive officer Sushil Gyawali.
A
Cabinet meeting held Thursday afternoon took the decision to this effective.
The
main opposition CPN-UML termed it as a design to remove the chief of the
reconstruction body.
The
UML-led government had appointed Gyawali as the chief of the reconstruction
body a year ago.
Although
there were news in the national media that the NRA chief had been sacked by the
government, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM)
sources said that the Cabinet had not yet decided to oust Gyawali.
Gyawali
said that he had not received any letter regarding his removal from the post
till evening.
"I
was busy in my office work all day. I haven't received any letter about me
being removed as the NRA chief," he said.
Gyawali
had submitted his clarification to the OPMCM on Wednesday in response to the
questions raised by the government about his inability to mobilise the required
staff for the post-quake reconstruction, implement the instructions of the NRA
Steering Committee, poor coordination with the government agencies and delay in
the grant distribution.
