Nepal Red Cross
Society (NRCS) and NIC Asia Bank Tuesday signed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) to collaborate for conducting blood donation campaign
across the country under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Bank.
According to a press
statement issued by NIC Asia, Laxman Risal, chief executive officer, of the
Bank and Dev Ratna Dhakwa, general secretary of the NRCS, signed the MoU amidst
a function organized by the Bank.
As per the
arrangements between these two institutions, NIC Asia will bear the financial
costs for organising 100 blood donation camps whereas NRCS will work on the
technical part of blood collection, storage and distribution for effective
management of blood donations.
“Further, NIC ASIA
Bank and Nepal Red Cross Society will organize and conduct awareness programmes
about blood donation and motivation programmes to educate people to donate
blood,” read the statement.
The Bank has
recently initiated a tree plantation programme with an aim to plant more than
7000 trees across the country to contribute to greenery and environment, and has
also initiated a financial literacy programme to bring in underprivileged and
marginalized communities yet to be serviced by the main stream banking.
