Public sector lack visionary managers

Kathmandu, Dec. 16: Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission Dr. Swarnim Wagle Saturday said that the government was unable to spend the capital budget due to the lack of visionary managers or professional in the public sector who could mobilize the resources.
To lead the country in the path of economic progress, the country needs better and visionary long-term goals, he said while addressing the Nepal Management Conclave 2017.
“With the successful completion of elections, the prolonged transitional phase has been over. It is now essential to set clear long-term goals like 10 or 15 years plan to generate prosperity in the country,” he said.
So-Young Kang, founder of Awaken Group in Singapore said that human-centric approaches, including leadership and skills, needed for better management in the age of technology.
“Machine will take over human but human priority is must for any successful venture,” she said.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bharat Light and Power Limited, India Tejpreet Singh Chopra said that leaders should take care about people, take the job nobody else takes and follow their own heart.
Senior Vice-President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Shekhar Golchha said, “The County is heading towards the golden era where the private sector is ready to have reforms in the economy.”
Most of the managers stressed on leading with action rather than words.
The conference was successful in meeting its aim of providing the top-level management in the nation a platform to discuss about the management issues, said Mohan Ojha, Director of the conference organiser Corporate Club Nepal.

 According to him, the conference concluded on Wednesday with a note that human centered leadership is required for proper management and only good managers can lead the country.
