NRA urges beneficiaries to activate bank account

Kathmandu, Aug 11
The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) on Sunday urged the beneficiaries of the housing grant to activate their bank accounts as soon as possible.

The NRA had signed the grant agreement with the families, which lost their house in the devastating Gorkha Earthquake 2015.

“Those families who have signed the grant agreement with the NRA but have not activated their bank account should do it so at the earliest in order to receive the money,” said the reconstruction body.

It had made the call since the first installment was deposited to the bank account of the respective family but the money remained idle as the beneficiaries did not use it.

According to Manohar Ghimire, Deputy Spokesperson of the NRA, bank accounts of thousands of families have become dormant and the money in them has remained idle.

He urged the beneficiaries to withdraw the money and start the reconstruction of their houses.
“If the accounts were not activated in time, the NRA will deactivate them,” he informed.

About 602,443 beneficiaries of the total 767,608 families have started rebuilding their house and received the second installation of the grant.
