eSewa, Cogent launch online doctor appointment service

Kathmandu, Feb. 3

eSewa and Cogent Health have forged collaboration to provide the facility of online appointment services at different hospitals of Nepal.

Patients can book appointments for the OPD consultations from a doctor of various five hospitals in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Tulsipur, the companies said in a statement on Thursday.

Everest Hospital Pvt. Ltd New Baneshwor and Ishan Children and Women's Hospital Basundhara in Kathmandu, Mediplus Hospital and Trauma Centre in Pokhara and Rapti Life Care Hospital in Tulsipur are the hospitals that joined the online appointment platform. These hospitals had earlier joined Cogent Health’s e-Appointment platform integrated with eSewa.

“Patients of these hospitals as well as general public will now be able to book appointments for OPD consultations from within eSewa mobile wallet app and make instant payments digitally,” read the statement.

The patients will no longer have to be physically present at the hospital and wait on the queue for booking appointments and making the payments of consultation, so the service is also expected to help reduce the associated risks posed by the current COVID-19 pandemic due to overcrowding at hospitals and healthcare institutions, it said.
