Nepal Intermodal Transport
Development Board (NITDB) has updated the freight-forwarders, traders and other
relevant businesses about the services and facilities available at the domestic
terminal of the Chobhar Dry Port in Kathmandu and service charges for those
provisions.
It organised an interaction
programme with the private sector, local governments and security agencies on
Friday regarding the operation of the domestic terminal within the dry port
complex.
The port was developed by the
NITDB, an agency under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS).
Representatives of Kathmandu
Metropolitan City, Kirtipur Municipality, Kathmandu Valley Traffic Office,
Lalitpur Metropolitan City and city police, Nepal Freight Forwarders
Association, Federation of Nepali National Transport Entrepreneurs and Nepal
Truck Container Transport Service participated in the interaction.
The NITDB informed the concerned
representatives about the services and facilities available at the Chobhar Dry
Port and the service charges to be paid by the customer for using the services
available at the facility.
Executive Director of NITDB, Ashish
Gajurel provided information about the methods of internal terminal usage,
vehicle parking management, labour management and cargo insurance.
Vice Chairman of the Urban Planning
Commission of Kathmandu Metropolis, Engineer Tapendra Bahadur Khadka and
Superintendent of Police of the Valley Traffic Office, Abi Narayan Kafle, pledged
their support in barring the vehicles entering the Kathmandu Valley from
parking and unloading goods on the roadside and promoting the use of domestic
terminal at the Chobhar Dry Port for the same.
