Nepal
Women's Chamber has honoured women entrepreneurs on the occasion of 113th
International Women's Day. The Chamber organised various cultural events including
a felicitation programme for women entrepreneurs in the capital the other day.
It
facilitated Shubhadra Adhikari Dhakal from industry sector, Parvata Kharel Bimali
from export, Nhashala Joshi from IT, Sarita Bhattarai Shrestha from agriculture
and Swarupa Shrestha from health.
Speaking
on the occasion, Krishna Kumari Paudel Khatiwada, a member of the National Women
Commission, said that although it seems easy for women to move forward in the
modern world, it is difficult and challenging to move forward without support
of their family and broader community.
She
expressed her ire that even women politicians were deprived of opportunities
because the political party leaders were not responsible enough.
Likewise,
Senior Vice President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Kamlesh Kumar Agarwal
emphasized that women should be supported to move forward economically,
socially, intellectually, culturally and economically. Agarwal said that women
are paid less than men and demanded that discrimination should be ended.
On
this occasion, Urmila Shrestha, president of Nepal Women's Chamber, said that
such programmes were held every year to encourage women to move forward.
Shrestha
said that the role of women, participation and representation are meaningful to
advance themselves.
General
Secretary of Nepal Women's Chamber, Lima Adhikari, said that women's
entrepreneurship should be developed by expanding investment in the productive
sector.
