Kathmandu, Aug 9:
Unilever Nepal Limited had declared a lockout of operations from Sunday.
Issuing a press
statement the company claimed that it was forced to lock out the operations as
a result of the actions of trade union and strike which disrupted normal
factory operations.
The management of the
multinational company in Nepal had displayed the notice of lockout at its factory premises and informed the
government authorities including the District Labout Office, Hetauda, Chief
District Officer, District Administration Office Makwanpur and District Police
Officer.
“The recent developments
are really unfortunate and have made it impossible to carry out day-to-day
operations at the factory. Therefore, the management was forced to take this
step of declaring a lock out due to complete cessation of factory operations,”
read the statement.
The company refuted the media reports that
normalcy was restored in the factory and said that the lock out of operations
continue as a result of the disruption of operations by the leaders of the
union.
Unilever’s factory in
Hetauda has 154 employees.
The FMCG (Fast Moving
Consumer Goods) producer had been experiencing disruptions in operations since
10th July due to industrial relations issues.
