The SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry Thursday said that it aimed at facilitating businesses of South Asia and to encourage investors from SAARC region and beyond to invest here.
Issuing a press statement on the occasion of the SAARC Charter Day, the regional business association said, "We strongly feel that this exchange will address major challenges the region faces – job creation for the youth of South Asian and poverty alleviation. SAARC CCI's initiatives for social and economic integration of the region will help in projecting a positive image of the regional forum within and outside the region which will encourage business to invest in SAARC countries."
It said that the leading business communities of all eight countries felt that closer collaboration amongst businessmen was integral for regional integration.
"The SAARC CCI leadership commits to carry out its six points agenda for an integrated, progressive and prosperous South Asia. The apex body of SAARC business communities claimed that it had been proactively advocating stronger commercial and economic relations for a prosperous and integrated South Asia.
"Since its inception, SAARC CCI has played an integral role in providing an institutional framework for promoting economic and regional cooperation in South Asia," it said.
