Dr. Khatiwada leaves for Washington DC


Kathmandu, Oct. 15

Finance Minister Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada left Kathmandu on Tuesday for the joint annual meeting of the World Band (WB) Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF) being held in Washington DC of the United States of America.

Nepal is a member of the South East Asian Voting Group under the WB and IMF.

FM Dr. Khatiwada will hold meetings with the top officials of both the Bretton Woods institutions.

He will deliberate on making the support from the international development partners for policy reforms in Nepal more effective, and additional areas of support.

During the meeting, Dr. Khatiwada will participate in a programme organised to share Nepal's experience, and a programme to celebrate golden jubilee of Nepal's association with the two development partners. He is also scheduled to meet high officials from other donor countries and organisations.

As the current chair of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Dr. Khatiwada will chair the informal meeting of the finance ministers of the member countries.

He is also scheduled to hold discussion with the vice-president of the Asian Development Bank.

He is accompanied by the Chief of International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division at the Ministry of Finance Shree Krishna Nepal.

Dr. Khatiwada will return to Kathmandu on 23 October.
