Portugal's DFM to visit Nepal from 29 April

Kathmandu, Apr. 28

Ana Isabel Xavier, Portugal’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, is scheduled to visit Nepal from 29 April to 1 May.

She is making her visit at the invitation of Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai.

During the visit, Xavier is set to hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Secretary Rai on 30 April. She will also pay a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal on the same day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) informed in a statement on Tuesday.

The MoFA said that discussions during the meetings will focus on reviewing the current status of Nepal–Portugal bilateral relations and exploring additional areas of cooperation based on mutual interests.

Officials from both countries are expected to discuss matters related to diplomatic engagement and other areas of collaboration.

Xavier will be accompanied by Portugal’s non-resident ambassador to Nepal, João Ribeiro de Almeida, along with other officials. "The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to assess existing cooperation and identify possible areas for further engagement between Nepal and Portugal," read the statement.
