The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry
(FNCCI) Friday decided to complete the elections of the State level chambers of
commerce and industry within a month after the election of the central working
committee.
The working committee meeting of the FNCCI led by its president
Bhawani Rana has decided to speed up the election process amidst the threat of
coronavirus pandemic.
Terming the situation a ‘special condition’, the business body has decided to support the
government in every activity to prevent the spread of the virus and combat it
in case of the outbreak. “To assess the situation for the same and mobilise the
necessary resources, further meetings will be called,” said the FNCCI in a
statement.
The meeting has also decided to request the government to
extend the period of paying the principal and interest of the bank loan and
government taxes from mid-April to mid-July due to the impact of COVID-19 in
Nepali economy which is likely to be severe in the coming days.
It has also asked the government to learn from other
countries in announcing special packages for the Nepali tourism entrepreneurs
to save them from further damages.
The FNCCI has also asked its member business organisations
and industries to sell their products and essential goods in a transparent and
easy manner, and urged the consumers not to store unnecessarily more goods.
