Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was discharged from the
hospital on Friday, 12 days after his admission to the Tribhuvan University
Teaching Hospital (TUTH) where he underwent his kidney transplant on March 4.
While coming out of the hospital, Prime Minister Oli waved
his hand towards the people and others at the hospital.
He got his second kidney transplanted at TUTH. He had his
first transplant in India in 2007.
After his discharge from the hospital, PM Oli tweeted to
express his gratitude to the doctors of the TUTH and the people in and out of
the country who wished him a recovery.
According to the hospital, his vitals and lab parameters are
in good condition. “He has to be in a regular follow up for some time. After
that he will be able to perform his works,” read a statement of the hospital.
Head of Nephrology Department at the TUTH and PM’s personal
doctor Dibya Singh Shah expressed PM long life and good health.
PM Oli was welcomed at his residence in Baluwatar by his
father Mohan Prasad Oli.
PM Oli was admitted to the TUTH on March 2.
His niece Samikshya Sangraula had donated one of her
kidneys to PM Oli. Sangarual was discharged from TUTH Wednesday
afternoon.
She was admitted to the hospital on March 2 together
with PM Oli.
Before her discharge, she had
met PM Oli and inquired about his health status.
The PM’s renal transplant was carried out by a team of
doctors, including Prof. Dr. Uttam Kumar Sharma, Prof. Dr. Prem Raj Gyawali,
Dr. Pawan Chalise, Dr. Bhoj Raj Luitel, Dr. Suman Chapagain, Dr. Sujit Paudyal
and Dr. Manish Man Pradhan.
