Kathmandu, Jun 4
Women and Social Committee under the Federal
Parliament has criticised the hospitals and health workers for showing
negligence in the treatment of patients, including those coming for general
check-ups and treatment.
"Claiming exorbitant allowance by misinterpreting
the bylaws and procedures is unethical,” the House panel said in its decision
on Thursday.
Refusing to provide health service, not showing
sympathetic behaviour to the patients and showing inhuman behaviour are
regrettable, it said.
The committee also criticised the health professionals
for referring the patients of districts with high number of coronavirus
patients to other hospitals.
Maintaining that everyone should pay attention to
personal security, it said that turning the face away from one’s duty even
after the provision of required safety measures was harmful for the
professional reputation.
"The committee is minutely and seriously
assessing such issues," read the decision.
At the same time, it said that the general people
should also exhibit higher level of tolerance and responsibility. It has asked
the concerned ministries and the government to handle the situation with care.
"Acts like running away from the quarantine camps
and showing disrespect to the health workers will not help in the prevention
and control of the coronavirus pandemic," noted the committee.
The committee has also directed the Ministry of Women,
Children and Senior Citizens, and Ministry of Health and Population to put
extra efforts to support the pregnant women with complexities and women in
problem.
It has asked the government to make the President
Women Uplift Programme more effective and simplify the process to rescue women
at risk.
