Kathmandu, Jun 11
Nepal Chamber of Commerce has welcomed
the government decision to relax the lockdown and allow the businesses to
operate.
A Cabinet meeting on Wednesday had
decided to cancel the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) which was on hold
for about three months, allow the operation of private vehicles on odd and even
basis and open the shops, increase the PCR test base and upgrade the quarantine
camps.
"These
are good and expected decisions," said the business body in a press
statement on Thursday.
It
has urged the private sector enterprises to run the business strictly adhering
to the social distancing and personal safety measures like using masks and
sanitizers and maintaining physical distance.
Chamber
has said that it had taken the decisions to increase the base of PCR test,
upgrading the quarantine camps and forging cooperation between the local
administration and local bodies to contain the spread of the virus in sensitive
areas positively.
In
the statement, the NCC has expressed its confidence that the government would
extend the date to pay the taxes like the Value Added Tax.
"We
are also expecting discounts on all taxes including the local taxes," it
said.
