Over 6 million clients using eSewa

Kathmandu, May 17

Esewa mobile app is downloaded more than 5.2 million times in Android mobile and 1 million in IOS, the company said on Tuesday.

This is the highest number of any financial service application download in Nepal. With this, eSewa has become the company with the third largest number of customers after Nepal Telecom and Ncell, it claimed in a statement.

"We are currently serving more than 6 million customers, and have helped to connect people in remote areas across the country through digital development. It has supported the digitilisation of economic transactions," read the statement.

Chief Executive Officer of the company, Subhas Sapkota, said that the attraction to the app is growing day by day with the growing access to internet and increasing number of mobile users.

To celebrate this achievement, eSewa has announced various offers on Wednesday, 18 May. Users can get 5 per cent cashback every hour and get a cashback of Rs. 55 on each mobile topup from 5:55 PM to 5:56 PM in the evening on the same day.

Likewise, 5 per cent discount is offered on all services from the app, such as Mankamana Cable Car ticket buying from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, mobile topup from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, data pack buying from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, internet bill payment from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and e-learning fee payment from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Likewise, discounts can be obtained in the payment of insurance premium, utility bill payment and television topup.

Fifty-one banks and financial institutions have become the members of eSewa.
