Kathmandu, May 14
The government has hiked the price of
petroleum fuel by Rs. 10 per litre.
With the new decision that came into effect
from Saturday night, price of petrol per litre has reached Rs. 170, and diesel
and kerosene Rs. 153.
A meeting of the board of directors of the
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) led by its chairman and Commerce Secretary Dr.
Ganesh Prasad Pandeya has decided to increase the price of fossil fuel.
According to the Nepal Oil Corporation, the
state-owned monopoly, the company is still witnessing a loss of Rs. 14.36 and
Rs. 31.44 in a litre of petrol and diesel respectively.
It said in a statement in the evening that
even after the hike in the price, the company is likely to run in a fortnightly
loss of Rs. 4.25 billion.
However, it is selling kerosene and
aviation fuel in a profitable way.
The NOC has not increased the price of LP
gas in which it is losing Rs. 1,050 per cylinder after selling it at Rs. 1,600.
