Italian envoy pledges investment in Nepal’s development

Kathmandu, Oct. 13

Italian ambassador to India and Nepal Vincenzo De Luca has expressed his interest to invest in various developmental sectors to promote Nepali entrepreneurs and businesses in Nepal.

Speaking at a bilateral meeting organised by Nepal-Italy Chamber of Commerce & Industry (NICCI) in Kathmandu, he also said that he was ready to provide his best support to flourish Nepali businesses in Italy as well.

Ambassador Luca said that the Italian Embassy in New Delhi plans to hold trade fair for all Italian brands and products available in Nepal. "We are also planning to organize various projects to promote Italian brands in Nepal in various ways and similarly promote Nepali brands in Italy as well," he said.

The bilateral meeting was held on Monday to discuss investing for business development in Nepal.

The meeting was led by Vice President of NICCI, Sanjay Agrawal, while Italian Ambassador to India and Nepal, Vincenzo De Luca, Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata, Gianluca Rubagotti, Consulate General to Italy for Nepal, Pratima Rana Pande, and Honorary Member of NICCI, Rajesh Kazi Shrestha were present in the meeting.

Agrawal said that NICCI has a vision to make Nepal a part of 'Grand International Expo' in Rome in 2030 to cover sector of evolution and regeneration of territories threatened by climate change, diversity and inclusion of communities, national and international decentralization and mobility, and digital connectivity for economic and social development.

NICCI also has planned to place one pavilion of Nepal in upcoming 'Milan Trade Fair 2023' which will happen in March 2023 to promote Nepali business, products and culture in Italy, according to the binational chamber.
