Nepali Ambassador to New Zealand, Kailash Raj Pokharel,
has presented his Letters of Credence to Dame Cindy Kiro GNZM, QSO, Governor-General and
Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand, as a Non-resident Ambassador of Nepal
to New Zealand, at a ceremony organised at the Government House in Auckland
on Tuesday.

Pokharel shed lights on various aspects of bilateral relations between Nepal
and New Zealand and underlined the crucial roles of two legendry mountaineers
Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norge Sherpa in fostering the bonds of
friendship between the two countries, according to a statement issued by the
embassy of Nepal in Canberra, Australia.
The Governor General of New Zealand extended deepest
condolence at the recent aircraft accident occurred in Pokhara. While applauding
the shared history of ascending the Everest, she said that their achievement
epitomised the values of determination, resourcefulness, courage and
self-belief that both countries share.
She also assured that the bonds between two countries
will always remain strong.

Pokharel also had a courtesy meeting with Michael Wood, Minister for Transport
and Workplace Relation and Safety of New Zealand and discussed various matters on
the bilateral relations between the two countries. He also met with Rod Harris,
Chief of Protocol of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand.
Later
on Tuesday, he met Simeon Brown, MP, National Party of New Zealand and shared
views on further consolidating the bilateral relations between the two
countries. He also held a meeting with senior officials from Plant and Food
Research of New Zealand and discussed possible horticulture research support to
Nepal.
