Travel Mart underway in Nepalgunj to promote tourism

Kathmandu, Jan. 30

Western Travel Mart Fame Trip with Sales Mission has started since Sunday in Nepalgunj with the aim of promoting the important tourist destinations of Western Nepal nationally and internationally.

The event is being jointly organised by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents (NATTA) Banke Chapter, in association with Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, Tourism Promotion Forum Banke, Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) Banke, Hotel Association of Banke and other organisations.

The second edition of the sales mission will run till Tuesday.

About 300 people including executive officers from NTB, NATTA, various airlines and Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), tour operators from bordering Indian cities, Nepali tourism professionals and media persons from India and Nepal are participating in the programme.

Inaugurating the programme, the member of the House of Representatives from Banke district, Dr. Dhawal Shamsher JB Rana said that Nepal is the best tourist destination nearby for Indian people and urged them to take advantage of it. He informed that soon there will be initiatives for direct flights from Nepalgunj to Delhi, Dehradun and other cities and said that both countries could benefit from this.

Jyoti Mayal, President of TAAI, said that when Nepal and India worked together, more dynamism could be brought to the tourism of both countries, and his organisation was always positive for necessary cooperation.

Shraddha Shrestha, manager of NTB, mentioned that since India is an important tourist source market of Nepal, the tourism board has given special importance to India and said that through this programme, Indian businessmen will also understand more about Nepal and expand the possibility of cooperation.

President of NATTA, Ramesh Thapa, stated that Nepal is an excellent destination for all seasons and said that Nepal is always ready to welcome Indian tourists. Shriram Sigdel, President of NATTA Banke Chapter, said that the mart would be a supporter for the search, development and business expansion of tourism potential in West Nepal with new and different thinking.

Surya Thapaliya, Manager of the NTB, informed the Indian tour operators participating in the travel mart about the programmes of the three-day event.
