The 37th conference of the
Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) will be
held in Kathmandu from Monday, November 6.
President of Nepal, Ramchandra Paudel will
inaugurate the two-day conference hosted by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers
of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) with the theme ‘Chambers of commerce helping
business get set for the future’. CACCI is the confederation of 28
national-level federations of associations of chambers of commerce and industry
of 26 countries of Asia and the Pacific region.
The FNCCI informed in a statement on Saturday
that earlier, 26th conference of the CACCI was held in Kathmandu.
Former prime minister, Dr. Baburam Bhatttarai
will address the conference as the keynote speaker while Finance Minister Dr.
Prakash Sharan Mahat, President of the FNCCI, Chandra Prasad Dhakal and former
President of the FNCCI and vice-president of CACCI, Pradip Kumar Shrestha,
President of CACCI, Peter McMullin AM and senior Vice-President of FNCCI, Anjan
Shrestha will address it.
“The Confederation is working in the areas of
mutual benefit and improving the living standards of the people of the region
through the expansion of industry, business, and investment technology in the
countries of the Asia Pacific region,” FNCCI said in the statement.
More than 60 business leaders from the member
countries and distinguished entrepreneurs and businessmen of Nepal, government
representatives and more than 200 people will participate in this conference.
The conference is expected to attract
investment, technology and tourism from the Asia Pacific region to Nepal. The
conference is expected to give major emphasis on sustainable development,
entrepreneurship, and trade promotion through mutual cooperation between the
countries of the region.
According to the FNCCI, the conference will
deliberate on clean and renewable energy, regional economic growth, food and
agriculture, youth entrepreneurship and information technology, tourism, micro,
domestic and small enterprises, water, energy and environment, regional
business network expansion, development opportunities and challenges in the
Asia-Pacific region.
“We believe that this conference will be a
milestone in the expansion of strong relations between Nepal and the countries
of the Asia Pacific region,” said the FNCCI which is one of the founding
members of the CACCI.
Established in 1966, CACCI has been working
as an active common platform for economic cooperation, trade and investment
promotion among its member countries, uniting business organisations within the
Asia-Pacific region.
