Kathmandu, Dec. 5
Foreign Minister NP Saud has again requested the government
of Qatar to initiate the release of Bipin Joshi, a student from Kanchanpur
whose condition is unknown in Israel.
He urged Qatar's ambassador to Nepal, Mishal Mohammed
Al-Ansari in a meeting organised at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) at
the Singha Durbar to take all measures for the release of Joshi, who is said to
be under the control of the Palestinian rebel group HAMAS.
In response, Ambassador Ansari said that the Qatari
government is taking steps to stop the renewed war between Israel and the HAMAS,
the MoFA said in a statement. He also replied that efforts are ongoing for the
release of the abductees including Nepali student Joshi.
The war between Israel and HAMAS has started again which has
made the situation more complicated. However, efforts are being made for
another ceasefire, according to Ambassador Ansari. "We are also trying to
release the prisoners," he said to FM Saud.
Earlier, Minister Saud had asked Qatar's Minister of State
for Foreign Affairs, Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi – who had come to Nepal on a
visit last month, to take initiative for Joshi's release.
Earlier, FM Saud had also talked with Israel's Ambassador to
Nepal, Hanan Goder, about Joshi's release.
The issue of Joshi's release will be seriously raised during
the high-level meeting that Foreign Minister Saud will take part in the Doha
Forum, which will start from December 10 in Qatar, informed the Ministry.
In the meeting held at the Ministry on Tuesday, Foreign
Minister Saud and Qatari Ambassador Ansari discussed issues like the Doha Forum
visit and high-level meetings in Qatar.
