Kathmandu, Dec. 30
The Chief Ministers of all the seven
provinces jointly met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' in
Baluwatar on Saturday morning and drew attention of the federal government for
the implementation of the federal rights guaranteed by the constitution.
The Chief Ministers submitted a seven-point
letter to PM Prachanda and drew the attention of the government to arrange the
use of the list of common rights provided in the constitution, and to implement
the conclusions of the Chief Ministers’ Conference held in Pokhara last June.
The Chief Ministers stressed that the
creation of laws necessary for the implementation of federalism is not the sole
responsibility of the Government of Nepal, but the joint responsibility of the
federal parliament and political parties, and said that the Prime Minister
should coordinate for political consensus.
While meeting with the Chief Ministers,
Prime Minister Prachanda said that as he is a pioneer of federalism and also
the leader of constitution making, he is serious about making federal laws.
He said, “As you know, I envisioned a
federal republic and fought for it. I have played a role and taken the lead in
writing it in the constitution. Therefore, the implementation of federalism is
my greatest interest and priority.”
"You are aware that I am working earnestly
for the creation of laws related to the implementation of federalism, including
the Federal Civil Service Act, Federal Education Act, and Police Adjustment
Act," said the Prime Minister. Now they remain to be finalised through
discussion. I will take further initiatives to resolve the problem after
discussing it at the top political level, he said.
