Intermodal Transport Development Board (NITDB) informed that the Integrated
Check Post (ICP) at the Nepal-India border in Nepalgunj will be operated by TRS
Atlas Logipark Pvt. Ltd, managed by Atlas Terminial JV.
Issuing
a statement on Wednesday, the agency under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce
and Supplies, said that to companies, Atlas and Trans Nepal Freight Services
Pvt. Ltd. had participated in the bidding process to obtain the management of
the ICP. The agreement with the company was signed on November 8, 2023.

Gajurel, Executive Director of the NITDB, said that currently Nepal has eight
ports and all have been handed over to the private sector for management and
operation.
When
he joined the Board 3 years ago, there were 6 ports under the NITDB and four of
them were being operated and managed by the private sector and the remaining
two were managed by the Board itself.
"The
ports have been successfully operated by the private sector through the public
private partnership (PPP) model," said Gajure..
The
NITDB had called for a bid to operate the ICP in Nepalgunj in June last year.
The ICP was developed with the economic and technical cooperation of India.
However, water tank, CCTV, networking, and fire-fighting system are still under
construction.
The
facility was jointly inaugurated virtually by the prime ministers of Nepal and
India, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Narendra Modi during the former's
visit to India in May-June 2023.
