Dr. Manish Thapa has been appointed
as the Honorary Consul of Costa Rica for Nepal.
Nepal and Costa Rica had established diplomatic relations on
August 16, 1977.
Dr. Thapa said that in his capacity as the Honorary Consul,
he would endeavour to facilitate tourism, cultural exchange, trade and
investment between Nepal and Costa Rica, striving to foster understanding and
cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.
The Costa Rican Government has also extended its
congratulations to Dr. Thapa and looks forward to a prosperous partnership with
Nepal.
Dr. Thapa facilitated a high-level official visit by then
Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli to Costa Rica in October 2018 while serving as a
professor at the United Nations-mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) in Costa
Rica.
The office of the Honorary Consulate of Costa Rica in Nepal
is located in Sanepa at the Global Equity Fund’s office, which will provide
essential consular services to both Costa Rican and Nepali citizens, serving as
a vital bridge between the two nations.Dr. Thapa is a Founding Managing Partner
of the Global Equity Fund, Nepal's first licensed Private Equity and Venture
Capital Fund.
In addition, he holds positions as a Board of Directors at
Laxmi Sunrise Bank, and is on the Board of Directors at the Asian Institute of
Management Technology, Nepal Private Equity Association and American Chamber of
Commerce in Nepal (AmCham Nepal).
He is also the Executive Chairman of the Nepal
Infrastructures Investment Fund (NIIF).
Dr. Thapa's academic contributions include the United Nations-mandated
University for Peace (UPEACE), University of Warsaw, McGill University, the University
of Tokyo, and Tribhuvan University.
