Kathmandu, Feb. 24
Stakeholders
have emphasised that the government should develop a dedicated grill village
for grill and steel entrepreneurs to manage the businesses of this sector and to
maintain urban beauty.
A delegation
of the Federation of Grill and Steel Associations of Nepal (FGSAN) met Umesh
Prasad Singh, President of the Federation of Nepalese Cottage and Small
Industries (FNCSI) to push forward the agenda with the government.
On the
occasion, Singh said that it is necessary to promote grill and steel industries
in order to enhance the productivity and capacity of the cottage and small
businesses, and the FNCSI will cooperate with the grill and steel entrepreneurs
for it.
The
President of the FGSAN, Thulo Babu Shrestha, urged the relevant agencies to
take necessary steps to register and renew industries in a simple way as the
process to register and renew industry is still complex.
In
order to solve the financial problems faced by the businesses due to COVID-19
and economic recession, he also requested the banks to reduce the high interest
rates and offer loans at subsidised rates without any collateral.
Shrestha
also urged the government to provide discounts on the imports of large and
small machine and tools used in grill and steel industries and simplify the
process to bring them in Nepal from abroad.
According
to him, there are about 11,000 grill and steel businesses in Nepal, and they
have employed 160,000 skilled and semi-skilled workers.
