Bhaktapur Festival to include trade fair

 Kathmandu, Dec. 4

The five-day Bhaktapur Festival 2081 will include a trade fair at Maheshwari Sports Ground in Bhaktapur from December 13 to 17.

It was confirmed that the trade fair would begin on December 13, the same day as the festival, informed Keshav Twanabasu, President of Bhaktapur Youth Team Golmadhi Bhaktapur, the organiser of the fair.

He said that the festival would feature 32 main exhibition sites across the city, with the trade fair being one of the key attractions at Maheshwari Ground.

Ukes Kawan, Ward Chair of Bhaktapur Municipality-7 and advisor to Bhaktapur Youth Team, said that while Bhaktapur Municipality is the main organiser of the entire festival, it has delegated responsibilities to various organisations as needed.

The organising team, the Bhaktapur Youth Team, will bear all expenses and generate income from the fair.

Preparations for the fair, including the construction of stalls, have already begun, and work is ongoing with numerous stall setups being completed daily. According to the event’s secretary, Rameshwar Machamasi, nearly 100 stalls will be set up at the fair, with 80 per cent of them already booked.

The trade fair will feature a wide range of products, including daily essentials, clothing, food items, automobiles, shoes, agricultural tools, handicrafts, and cultural, business, and tourist goods.

The festival will offer a variety of rides and activities such as a children's playground, rotary swings, dragon rides, mini bungee jumps, and performances by national, international, and local artists, including comedy acts and musical performances, every day.
