Gov refutes media reports on establishing varsity in Mustang

Kathmandu, Mar. 5

The government has termed the news reports published as expressed by former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli as misleading.

A statement issued by Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma on Sunday read that the government’s serious attention was drawn to the news reports.

“The expression that the government has started a work to establish a university in Baragung Muktikshetra Rural Municipality in Mustang district is completely misleading. I would like to clarify that the Government of Nepal has not made any decision regarding this,” Minister Sharma said in the statement.

According to her, the government would investigate the information that the local government of Baragung Muktikshetra RM wrote a letter to the Embassy of India in Nepal requesting the latter for the support to establish a college. The truth and the facts would be published soon, said Minister Sharma.

Terming the baseless blame on  the Prime Minister and the government a ‘sorrowful’ event, she maintained that it was inappropriate since such statements hamper the foreign policy of the country.

Minister Sharma also urged the media and people not to be misled by such fake and misleading speeches.

“Nepal Government has always stood firm  for the country’s sovereignty, integrity, national interest and independent and balanced diplomacy,” she said, adding that Nepal is committed to its non-alignment policy and the principles of Panchasheel.
