Budget should support income generation: CNI

 Budget of Fiscal Year 2026/27

Kathmandu, May 10

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) urged the government to adopt policies that treat the private sector as an engine of development and promote industrial and investment growth.

Submitting its recommendations for the upcoming budget of fiscal year 2026/26 to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle at his office on Sunday, it said that the budget should support income generation and wealth creation.

The CNI urged the government to prioritise industry through policy reforms and ensure policy stability for at least 10 years. It also recommended implementing an industrial development strategy focused on products with competitive potential and introducing a budget centred on employment, production and import substitution.

It further suggested maintaining at least a two-tier customs duty difference between raw materials and finished goods, introducing a net settlement system for refunds or adjustments of customs duties and other refundable amounts on industrial raw materials, and promoting domestic production through tax exemptions on imported raw materials for industries using at least 40 per cent domestic raw materials.

The confederation has submitted sector-specific budget recommendations relating to industry and investment, foreign direct investment, tax policy and systems, customs, tourism, agriculture, herbs and forest products, energy and information technology, infrastructure, fiscal governance, finance and promotion of domestic production.

Similarly, CNI called for making the tax system simpler, integrated and limited in type, while clarifying VAT, income tax and excise duty provisions through explanatory notes. It also proposed reducing income tax rates and increasing the minimum threshold for personal income tax for individuals to Rs. 1 million.

The private sector business body suggested implementing a risk-based audit system, digitising tax administration, and introducing mechanisms for tax dispute resolution and advance rulings.

It further proposed upgrading testing, certification and laboratories to international standards and initiating negotiations with India for mutual recognition of certification systems and standards such as NS and ISI.

"Priority should be given to domestic products in public procurement, a digital portal should be introduced for identifying and procuring domestic products, policies for the sustainable use of natural resources should be simplified, and subsidy systems based on production, employment and exports should be implemented," read the statement.

CNI additionally suggested repealing the Foreign Investment Restriction Act, 2021, which prohibits overseas investment, and introducing clear provisions governing approval procedures and regulation for investments abroad.

"We recommended adopting policies to attract private-sector participation in large infrastructure projects and removing land ceiling restrictions for land required under approved industrial projects," said CNI.

Presenting the recommendations, CNI President Birendra Raj Pandey expressed confidence that addressing and implementing the recommendations put forward for the upcoming budget would significantly improve economic expansion, employment generation and investment growth, thereby contributing meaningfully to the country’s prosperity.

Responding to the recommendations, Finance Minister Dr. Wagle said private-sector capital is essential for development. He said that legal reforms and improvements to the tax system are necessary and emphasised the importance of recognising wealth creation. He added that private investment should be encouraged in infrastructure development.

The meeting was attended by former CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, former presidents Hari Bhakta Sharma and Vishnu Kumar Agrawal, Senior Vice-President Nirvana Chaudhary, Vice-Presidents Hem Raj Dhakal, Bhim Ghimire and Gokul Bhandari, and other office bearers.

Govt determined to reform laws to increase investment

Lalitpur, July 9

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari has said that it is heartening that the private sector is raising the same demands for the last two decades but many of them have not been fulfilled even now.

"The political leadership has failed to address the short-term and long-term need of the industrial sector. Had it been done there would have been expansion of industrial base, more employment generation and greater contribution to the economy," he said while addressing the 22nd Annual General Meeting of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) in Lalitpur on Tuesday.

"The manufacturing sector's contribution to the GDP has gradually gone down to 5 per cent from about 14 per cent several years ago. Until we keep the industrial sector at the forefront of the national development, we will further fail to strengthen economic development," said Minister Bhandari.

He maintained that the government now has taken such issues seriously and is determined to address the policy hurdles that have long been obstructing the development of industry in the country.

The policies and programmes of the government and budget for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025/26 have given priority to address the demands of the private sector and resolve the challenges faced by the industries and entrepreneurs.

According to Minister Bhandari, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS) has been putting its efforts to make impactful cooperation and collaborations with the relevant ministries including the Finance, Physical Infrastructure, Foreign Affairs and Energy.

He said that his ministry will work towards promoting Nepal's products in the international market, enhance export and attract more investment.

Lawmaker and president emeritus of the CNI, Binod Chaudhary, said that through the recent initiatives to make policy reforms to promote the private sector investment and businesses, the government has given a clear indication that it has intentions to facilitate business growth and development.

Likewise, President of the CNI, Rajesh Agrawal, said that despite interest rates falling to a single-digit level and investable funds being available within banks and financial institutions, industries and businesses have not been able to take loans due to insufficient overall demand.

"As a result, they have also been unable to invest. This is currently the greatest challenge facing the economy," he said while informing that the industrial output has not increased, and irregular electricity supply to industries has pushed production costs higher.

According to him, on one hand, investable funds in banks are rising while, on the other hand, policies adopted by the regulatory authority have discouraged investors.

Capital expenditure by the government plays a vital role in keeping the overall economy dynamic. However, the state of capital spending has remained a matter of concern for a long time, he said.

The recent legal reforms aimed at improving the economic and business environment, encouraging investment, and ensuring good governance in public services—along with directives on the use of domestic goods in public bodies and budgetary provisions to promote production in fiscal year 2082/83—have instilled hope in the private sector. "However, effective implementation of these revised laws and directives is critical to achieving meaningful outcomes," said Agrawal.

He said that the legal reforms and the budget of 2025/26 have introduced some historic initiatives.

According to him, the new provision allowing Nepali entrepreneurs or companies to set up sales branches or semi-processed export-based factories abroad, and invest up to 25 per cent of their annual export earnings overseas is a visionary step.

Agrawal also maintained that financial penalties should be imposed for economic offences, but entrepreneurs should not be imprisoned, as the state cannot benefit from jailing businesspeople.

"With the overall contraction in demand, producers are struggling, and the inability to collect outstanding dues is adding to their distress. While many countries have enacted Payment Protection Acts, Nepal has no such legal framework to date. I therefore sincerely urge the government to introduce a Payment Protection Act," said Agrawal.

DPM Paudel assures of addressing the recommendations of the High-Level Commission

 Kathmandu, May 13

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, said that the suggestions of the High-Level Economic Reforms Recommendation Commission (HLERIC) that could be addressed by the budget of the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025/26 would be included in the appropriation bill and appended bills.

"It’s a massive document, so all of the recommendations couldn't be included in the budget due to the limited availability of resources," said DPM Paudel while speaking at a conference on 'Roadmap for Economic Transformation' organised by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) in Kathmandu on Tuesday evening,

He also urged the organiser and Chairman of the HLERIC Rameshwore Khanal to provide an abridged version of their suggestions including only those that should be addressed by the next budget.

The event was organised with the aim of implementing the report and suggestions of the HLERC which was led by former Finance Secretary Rameshwore Khanal and included the representatives from the private sector.

Khanal, Chairman of the HLERC, stressed on redesigning and reconstruction of the social security programmes, and checking the practice of announcing distributary budget and scattering the meagre resources available.

"Government and private sector both should mobilise their resources in close harmony so that it would contribute in capital formation and opportunity creation. We must crate trust-based system to achieve the national aspiration for development," he said.

According to Khanal, the country should adopt the macroecnomic economic policy to create economic opportunities, motivate stakeholders to create it and expand the access to opportunities should get priority.

He said that the suggestions like not transferring the high government officials for at least two years, prioritising and completing sick national projects and completing them withing the next five years, enhancing the capacity of the construction entrepreneurs, forming an Infrastructure Development Authority, and expediting and easing the Environmental Impact Assessment should be addressed through the budget of the next year.

To promote and attract domestic capital market and foreign direct investment in infrastructure, the viability gaps funding, minimum revenue guarantee, hedging mechanism, public private partnership, blended finance and BOOT (Build Own Operate and Transfer) should be promoted.

Khanal also stressed on the dismantling of the Revenue Investigation Department, opening FDI in agriculture, opening capital account convertibility, issuing new Information Technology Policy, and creating centres of excellence in universities.

Speaking on the occasion, former Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, suggested the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to first categorise the projects and programmes on the basis of the available resources or those that can be generated.

When the government delivers it promises, only then the public trust on it would be strengthened.

"The finance minister and the government must exhibit their courage to go against the populism and have evidence-based and time-bound planning for the national development," said Dr. Mahat.

Likewise, another former Finance Minister, Barshman Pun, said that the general mood of Nepali society has been pessimistic due to poor development delivery of the government.

"It means we have shortcomings in our policies and practices. They must be improved immediately and new phase of economic reform should be initiatied," he said.

According to him, the country needs a few transformative projects that would impact multiple sectors of the economy and social life.

Pun said that the country needs a long-term strategy for economic development which would stay even when the governments are changed.

Surendra Pandey, former Finance Minister, said the government has to opt for increased domestic borrowing to finance the development projects.

"As per the current economic scenario and size of the national economy, the finance minister should dare to manage at least Rs. 350 billion through domestic borrowing.

Stating that the Ministry of Finance now lacks the expertise and technical know-how of economic reforms and development, Pandey suggested for the promotion 'minimum government'.

"But we must be clear about the limiting the power of government in the economic and social affairs," he said while stressing on the powerful and effective oversight agencies.

Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, President of the CNI, said that policies must undergo timely amendment but they should always be progressive.

The government has expressed its willingness to implement the report and included its pledge in the pre-budget policy documents such as the Policies and Programmes for the Fiscal Year 2025/26 and Principles and Priorities of the upcoming budget of the next year.

Kathmandu, May 7

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepal University to link education with industry.

Registrar of the university, Dr. Suryaraj Acharya, and Director General of CNI, Dr. Ghanshyam Ojha, signed the MoU on Wednesday, CNI informed in a statement.

On the occasion, CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agrawal said that the current need is to produce a skilled workforce. He noted that while many individuals have academic qualifications, there is a growing need to enhance practical and skill-based learning.

Agrawal expressed his confidence that Nepal University would contribute meaningfully to the development of a skilled labour force. He also affirmed CNI’s commitment to connecting students from Nepal University with industrial sectors. He further expressed belief that Nepal University would help transform traditional academic programmes.

CNI welcomes amendments to laws meant to increase investment

Kathmandu, Jan. 15

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has welcomed the recent amendments to the laws which were aimed at improving the economic and business environment, enhancing investment, and ensuring good governance in public service delivery.

“Through ordinances, the government has amended a total of 24 laws - 11 related to the improvement of the economic and business environment and investment promotion, and 12 related to the promotion of good governance and the delivery of public services. The CNI believes that these amendments will help boost investment in the country,” it said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The business body said that it had submitted detailed recommendations to the government regarding necessary legal reforms for the overall development of the economy. These amendments are necessary to build a prosperous economy so the CNI thanked the government for taking this initiative and urged for effective implementation of those provisions.

Due to the overall contraction of market demand and declining business morale, investment has not been increasing now. However, the CNI expressed its belief that the amendments to the laws will send a positive message to the investors.

However, despite some amendments to laws before the investment conference held in April last year, the expected outcomes have not been achieved due to the lack of timely formulation of necessary regulations and procedures.

The CNI drew the attention of the concerned stakeholders to the need for the timely introduction of necessary regulations and procedures for the effective implementation of these recently amended laws.

It also requested the government to urgently amend laws related to finance, land, and public procurement.

CNI urges new ambassadors to embrace economic diplomacy

Kathmandu, Dec. 10

The Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has urged newly proposed Nepali ambassadors to accord top priority to strengthening economic ties with their respective host countries.

Speaking at an economic dialogue with the ambassadors-designate held on Monday, President of CNI, Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, highlighted the critical role of ambassadors in linking foreign investors with Nepal’s investment opportunities through economic diplomacy.

Stressing on the need for country-specific economic strategies to promote investment and exports, he also urged all Nepali embassies to appoint a 'focal contact person' to facilitate interactions with both foreign and domestic investors.

He cited global examples to show that strong and stable economic relations often outlast political ties and stressed the importance of branding Nepal as a business-friendly destination.

"Nepal has conducted sovereign country rating recently and got a comparatively good rating. I am confident that this could attract investment in key sectors," he said while adding that as the country is set to graduate to a developed country by 2026, there is a need to reassure the business community and investors that this transition would not affect Nepal's trade privileges.

The country should strive for signing preferential trade agreements (PTAs) that align with Nepal's interests, said Agrawal.

He said that a fund has been created to promote entrepreneurship in the province and that it was necessary to promote entrepreneurship to create jobs in the country.

Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, President of the CNI, said that it was necessary to encourage, motivate and encourage young entrepreneurs for the overall economic development while increasing employment in the country and developing industrialisation.

Infrastructure Summit stresses development issues

 Kathmandu, Sept. 14:

The Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2024 concluded in the Capital on Friday with extensive deliberations on cross-cutting issues of development including energy and water resources, digital and information technology, transport infrastructure construction, urban development and waste management.

The two-day flagship summit jointly organised by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) also dealt with the issues of provincial and local governments' development engagement and role of women.

Addressing the closing programme of the event, former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda said that the development of physical infrastructure was indispensable for the overall economic development of Nepal.

Stating that various laws related to business and investment were amended and formulated during the Investment Summit earlier this year to make the investment environment better in Nepal, Prachanda urged the investors from Nepal and abroad to make investment in infrastructure.

He termed the organisation of the summit as a creative and constructive move to contribute to the nation's development and economy and expressed his belief that the Government of Nepal will accept the suggestions made in the conference and implement the reforms accordingly.

The Summit was coorganised by the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) and Youth Community for Nepalese Contractors (YCNC).

Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, President of CNI, informed that the suggestions regarding the importance of strategic investment to advance the sustainable development of Nepal would be provided to the government.

"Models of infrastructure development, identification of practical aspects that can be implemented in Nepal and the steps to be taken to ensure that our infrastructure projects are not only economically but also socially and

environmentally sustainable, were clearly suggested during the summit," he said.

Likewise, Secretary of the MoPIT, Keshab Kumar Sharma, said that the infrastructure conference received important suggestions from foreign and domestic experts on Nepal's infrastructure development. He expressed his commitment to accept the suggestions made in the conference and take the necessary steps for their implementation.

Earlier, discussing the energy sector development in Nepal, stakeholders said that the country had made a tremendous progress in clean energy, investment has gone up and use has increased.

While private sector played an instrumental role in this drive, they are still facing challenges at various fronts. The electricity bill is stuck at the parliament while there are multitudes of problems in cutting trees and land acquisition at the development site, said energy entrepreneurs, Kumar Pandey.

Experts suggested the government focus on reservoir-based hydroelectricity projects for the seamless supply of quality energy. They also said that it is still challenging to manage investment for the government target to develop projects generating 28,500 megawatts of electricity by 2035.

However, Ganesh Karki, President of Independent Energy Producers Association of Nepal (IPPAN), said that there were opportunities in Nepal's energy sector, from capital investment to production of necessary machinery.

"Generating 28,500 megawatts would require an investment of Rs. 4600 billion, and accordingly, there would be great opportunities for other businesses that are connected with it," he said.

Former joint-secretary, Keshab Dhoj Adhikari, informed that Nepal is at 115th position globally in terms of energy consumption. Total installed capacity of Nepal in electricity has reached 3,062 MW in which the private sector is contributing 2436 MW.

Likewise, the experts from the session on transport infrastructure said that key issues in Nepal’s transport involved inadequate road maintenance, with only 6 per cent of the budget allocated compared to the recommended 12-15 per cent as well as problems with road functionality and safety, leading to inefficiencies and high accident rates.

Incomplete projects and inefficient procurement processes also contribute to the difficulties.

The stakeholders suggested that the private sector should be engaged more effectively in infrastructure development and public transportation improvements. This includes better coordination, adoption of new technologies, and ensuring project viability. However, the government may need to provide guarantees or subsidies to attract private investment and ensure project success and safety.

Likewise, the provincial and local government stakeholders said that they face inadequate fiscal transfer, with provincial expenditures accounting for less than 10 per cent of the federal government’s total expenditure.

Capacity gaps, a lack of institutional structures, and the federal government’s encroachment on smaller local projects hamper their progress, they said. Coordination issues between federal and provincial governments, along with a centralist mindset, exacerbate these challenges.

PM Oli underscores private investment for prosperous Nepal

Kathmandu, Sept. 12

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Nepal needed private investment to improve the economy. "Our policies and practices are perfectly aligned to welcoming private investments in Nepal. The government is always ready to provide handholding services to investors, whether they are national or international," he said while addressing the Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2024, jointly organised by the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) in the Capital on Thursday.

According to him, the government is always ready to collaborate with the private sector for infrastructure growth. We can together build better transmission lines, better roads, better and livable cities, he maintained.

"The government and the private sector should be able to work together in building infrastructure in Nepal. I think we need to explore different alternatives in financing a number of infrastructure projects. For instance, we need to find out ways in harnessing financing instruments to build our infrastructures through private sector participation," said PM Oli.

According to him, infrastructure is the spine of the country's economy and the foundation upon which the future is built.

"It is not merely the physical framework upon which our cities and communities stand, it is also clean energy and industry infrastructure which promote sustainable development," he said. "For too long, our roads, bridges, and public transit systems have been neglected. We have seen the consequences of this neglect: increased traffic congestion, delayed goods and services, and a growing divide between those who have access to reliable infrastructure and those who do not," PM Oli said.

He also mentioned that clean energy, IT and urban infrastructure have also been neglected for quite a long time which has hindered Nepal's growth process.

"Creating infrastructure is about creating jobs. Infrastructure also strengthens our communities, enabling businesses to thrive, and ensuring that every Nepali can access opportunities, no matter where they live," he said.

"We know that we need good roads, strong power transmission infrastructures, well-organized and sustainable cities, and better aviation infrastructure. These are my government's priority," he added.

Stating that these infrastructures should be environmentally sustainable, Prime Minister Oli said that though the infrastructure development is a top priority, the government alone cannot fulfill such huge infrastructure needs. "The private sector needs to walk hand in hand with the government for materializing this shared vision toward Prosperous Nepal and Happy Nepali," he said.

Dr. Bindu Lohani, former Vice President of the Asian Development Bank and infrastructure expert, said that Nepal needs infrastructure equity fund for the development of mega projects in this sector. Currently, the country lacks the financial capability to make investment in large infrastructure projects and a consortium of multiple banks and financial institutions is needed even to finance a 100 megawatt hydroelectricity project, he said.

Raekwon Chung, Nobel Laureate and Board Member of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future, said that right policy and active leadership is more important than the money. "If you have a right policy, money and technology will come to you."

Speaking at a session on 'regional connectivity' at the summit earlier, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, said that Nepal is for proceeding ahead with the BBIN Motor Vehicle Agreement, and priority is accorded to promote inter-country trade and economic growth. According to Minister Dahal, 57 projects are being developed with foreign aid while private investment is given top priority in infrastructure development.

Likewise, former ambassador of Nepal to India, Dr. Shankar Sharma, said that although the South Asian region is a large area in terms of geography and population, it is the least connected and integrated region in terms of infrastructure development. He stated that without greater transport connectivity, regional trade wouldn't grow. For it, the countries should give priority to the development of rail and water transport, integrated check posts and digital connectivity.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day summit, President of the CNI, Rajesh Agrawal, said that Nepal needs to accelerate its efforts in its drive toward infrastructure financing to fulfill its Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

"We need huge investment in our critical infrastructures such as in energy, transport, and urban infrastructure. This year’s summit provides us with a renewed opportunity to explore innovative strategies, discuss cutting-edge technologies, and chart out a roadmap that will lead us toward green, resilient and sustainable infrastructure ecosystem," he said.

According to him, the summit will explore the importance of sustainable infrastructure practices, emphasizing the need for projects that are not only environmentally friendly but also socially and economically viable over the long term.

Likewise, the sessions on Friday will address the challenges and opportunities within the country’s particular sectors, be it transport, construction, waste management and others. One of the sessions will also focus on the role of provincial and local governments in infrastructure development, stressing the need for better coordination between the national and local levels to improve service delivery and project execution.

CNI stresses relaunching direct air connectivity with Europe

Kathmandu, Aug. 18

The Tourism Committee under the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) stressed reestablishing direct air links with Europe, making the Nepal Airlines Corporation more competitive and reforming the tourism-related laws and policies for the development of the tourism sector.

In a meeting with Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, on Sunday, the committee suggested the minister bring the Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport into operation, implement a strategy for accident reduction and make the Nepal Tourism Board more competitive.

Raj Bahadur Shah, Vice-president of the CNI, said that since the tourism sector is an area with high potential for development and investment, it is necessary to bring new policies to ensure the growth of this sector.

Member of the Tourism Committee, Rabi Chandra Singh requested to increase the operating time of Tribhuvan International Airport from 14 hours to 16 hours a day from November 8 as it is necessary to meet the demands during this tourism season.

According to him, the TIA operation period should be extended to midnight from the current time of up to 10:00 PM.

“The government has set a target of bringing in 1.6 million tourists this year, but due to the high price of air tickets in Nepal, it will be difficult to meet the target. It is necessary to review the Value Added Tax imposed on the air tickets,” Singh said.

Committee member Ashok Pokhrel said that Nepal must increase accessibility to promote the development of the tourism sector.

For this, effective initiatives are needed to remove Nepal from the safety concern list of the European Union to make it easier for people to travel to and from Nepal and Europe. Singh emphasised that the national flag carrier (NAC) should be strengthened and the Nepal Tourism Board should be promoted according to its objectives.

Responding to the suggestions and demands of the CNI’s delegation, Tourism Minister Pandey said that he will move forward by solving the problems of the tourism sector.

He said that they the government is working to solve the problem of airports in Pokhara and Bhairahawa by mid-September 2026. Minister Pandey also informed us that the Tourism Act would be issued as soon as possible.

Kathmandu, Feb. 8

The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) signed separate Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the German Association for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW) on Wednesday to explore the possibility of German companies investing in Nepal or collaborating with Nepali businesses.

The MOUs were signed by FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of CNI, Rajesh Kumar Agrawal and Christoph Ahlhaus, Executive Chairman of BVMW, on behalf of their respective organizations.

The MOU signing ceremony was held at the Embassy of Germany in Kathmandu in the presence of German Ambassador to Nepal, Dr. Thomas Prinz.

Dhakal said that there needs to be collaboration between FNCCI and BVMW to promote trade relations between Nepal and Germany. He added that both the organisations need to explore ways to increase exports from Nepal to Germany because Germany has been a trusted export destination for Nepal for many decades, according to a statement issued by the FNCCI.

He also mentioned that SMEs will be affected by Nepal's graduation to a developing country status the most as Nepal will lose the facility of duty-free access for exports to Europe. He stressed that SMEs, particularly run by women, need to be supported. He added FNCCI and BVMW should collaborate for the promotion and development of SMEs.

Likewise, CNI informed that Agrawal underscored the potential of the MoU to strengthen ties between the SME sector of Nepal and Germany. He highlighted the promise it holds for Nepal's SMEs, envisioning a future where collaboration between Nepali and German SMEs leads to mutual growth and prosperity.

Ambassador Prinz expressed his optimism about the pivotal role the MoUs will play in facilitating the exchange of business opportunities and investments, particularly in sectors such as AI and IT. He emphasized the significance of this partnership in transcending borders and fostering cooperation between SMEs of both nations.

Shubhashish Thapaliya, Nepal's representative for BVMW, said that the MoU aims to enhance trade relations, attract investments, and explore avenues for joint ventures beneficial to both nations.

The major objectives of the MOU are to enhance cooperation between FNCCI and CNI and BVMW and establish a practical framework to cooperate in investment promotion. The MOU also speaks about strengthening institutional relations and capacity building through mutual cooperation.

As per the MOU, both FNCCI and BVMW will have a regular exchange of information on investment policies, rules, regulations, procedures, incentives and opportunities. There will also be an exchange of general updates on statistics and data related to Nepal and Germany with a view to making them accessible to both organizations.
