Sakuma new JICA Nepal chief

Japan Wednesday appointed Jun Sakuma as the Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency Nepal (JICA) Nepal office.
Sakuma has taken over the job of Tsutomu Shimizu.
Before joining to Nepal office, Sakuma was working as executive advisor to the director general and deputy DG for planning and ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) Partnership, Southeast Asia and Pacific Department in JICA.
He joined JICA in 1989 with his assignment in Expert Assignment Department and worked as deputy director general and group director of Basic Education Group from 2010 to 2013.
Graduated from Waseda University of Japan in Law, he obtained his Masters Degree from School of Education, Stanford University, USA.
Sakuma stated that JICA Nepal would continue to provide maximum support to the Nepali people and the government for peace and prosperity. “Nepal Office will expedite its assistance towards reconstruction and rehabilitation with ‘build back better’ concept and manner to support the earthquake victims,” he said.
