DPM Thapa leaves for Turkey

 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa is scheduled to leave for Istanbul, Turkey today to participate in the World Humanitarian Summit convened by the Secretary General of the United Nations.
He will be accompanied by National Reconstruction Authority chief executive officer Sushil Gyawali, foreign secretary Shankar Das Bairagi and senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and Ministry of Home Affairs.
Permanent Representatives of Nepal to the UN in New York and Geneva will join the delegation in Istanbul, informed the MoFA in a press statement Friday.
"The first-ever World Humanitarian Summit aims to re-inspire and reinvigorate a commitment to humanity and to the universality of humanitarian principles, initiate a set of concrete actions and commitments as well as share best practices which can help save lives around the world," read the statement.
Representatives from business, aid organizations, civil society, affected communities and youth will also participate in the summit.
The DPM is also scheduled to pay an official visit to Israel from 24th May to 26th May. He will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as other leaders during his stay there.
DPM Thapa will also lead Nepalese delegation to the comprehensive high level mid-term review of the Istanbul Programme of Action being held in Antalya of Turkey from 27th to 29th May.
The IPOA aims at enabling half of the least developed countries to meet the criteria for graduation from the LDC category.

DPM Thapa is scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu on 30th May.
