Deputy Secretary-General of the
United Nations Jan Kenneth Eliasson Monday assured that the international
community was with Nepal
in the post-quake reconstruction.
In an interaction with the National
Reconstruction Authority (NRA) chief executive officer Sushil Gyawali at
Bungmati, Lalitpur, Eliasson said that the initiatives for reconstruction works
were on the right track and promised to work to garner more international
support for the same.
"Reconstruction of the
structures damaged by the quake is challenging. Therefore the country should further
the reconstruction steadily," he stated.
He urged the government to forge collaboration
with the international community, private sector and civil society for speedy
and sustainable reconstruction.
He suggested Gyawali to use both
the local and international skills and capacity in the post-quake
reconstruction.
Meanwhile, the NRA deployed six
joint secretaries at the sub-regional offices. Khom Raj Koirala was deployed in
Kathmandu and Ramesh Kumar KC in Lalitpur.
Likewise, Suman Dahal and
Narayan Prasad Sapkota were sent to Kavrepalanchowk and Nuwakot respectively
while Shiva Ram Neupane was deployed in Dolakha and Jitendra Basnet in Gorkha.
The sub-regional office of the
NRA in Kathmandu coordinates and monitors the reconstruction works in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur.
Sub-regional office in Lalitpur
looks after Lalitpur and Makwanpur while Kavre and Sindhuli are under the Kavre
office.
Likewise, sub-regional office in
Nuwakot has Nuwakot and Rasuwa under its scope while Gorkha office looks after
Gorkha and Dhading.
Similarly, Dolakha sub-regional
office coordinates the reconstruction works in Dolakha, Okhaldhunga and
Ramechhap.
Padam Aryal had been deployed at
the Sindhupalchowk office earlier.
Meanwhile, the reconstruction
body urged the Non Resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) to approve the master
