Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) said
on Sunday that 14 NRNs have died from the COVID-19 in the United Kingdom,
United States and United Arab Emirates (UAE) by Saturday evening.
According to the statistics collected by
Health Committee under the NRNA president Kumar Pant-led High-Level Committee,
8 died in the UK, 5 in the USA and 1 in UAE.
Coordinator of the Health Committee Dr.
Sanjeev Sapkota said that about 665 NRNs are affected by the virus so far. Of
the infected people, 500 are in the USA, 100 in the UK, 18 in Spain, 10 UAE,
four Germany, eight Portugal, nine Australia, four Saudi Arabia, five Kuwait
and one each in Malaysia, Japan, Myanmar and Hong Kong.
The statistics was prepared on the basis of
NRNA's country committees, Nepali embassies and local organisations.
Meanwhile, the NRNA has launched 24-hour
telephone helpline service. According to Pant, the service was started to hear
the troubles faced by NRNs in various countries affected by the coronavirus
pandemic.
The association has already started 24-hour
health helpline.
